Vermont Vaudeville presents a Physical Theater Workshop at Weathersfield School Gymnasium on Friday, February 12th from 1:00- 2:10.
Invite your Family, Friends, Neighbors, better yet everyone you know to come see the "Greatest Show" in Weathersfield!!! This performance is a student generated show.
The residency teaches all manners of variety arts and circus tricks to the Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students. From clowning and juggling to puppetry and physical theater, students will have a chance to work with and in front of their peers. The residency uses performance as a tool to build physical skills, personal confidence, group dynamics, and narrative understanding.
Vermont Vaudeville consists of Maya Curvelo and Brent McCoy, whose mission is to revive the old-time variety arts in the Green Mountain State and beyond. They wish to unite people to laugh, cheer, and enjoy the spectacle that only live theater can bring. Together they work in schools, colleges, theaters, summer camps, town halls, libraries, after-school programs, and anywhere in between.
Many thanks to a Hick- Nichols Grant for providing us the funding to make this possible. |

Parents, friends and community members are invited to the Annual Weathersfield School Science Fair which will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 7:00 to 7:30 pm in the school all-purpose room. The annual science fair is the culminating event in science for the graduating 8th grade class. Students have been working on a scientific investigation of their own choosing since September. Come and see the answers to such questions as: "Does the level of biogas in cow manure change when it is mixed with fruit or vegetable peelings?" "What kind of bags will make a half an apple stay white?" "Which type of material cleans up oil spills best?" and "How permanent are permanent markers?" We hope to see you there! |

On Thursday of this week, I spoke to the Eighth Graders informing them that we would not be continuing the “Point System.” It is my hope that the students will still continue to give service to the school during their last period and study hall just to help others. At this point, all students are in good standing regarding the end of the school year Boston Trip. Any student found ineligible for the trip will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Possible reasons could be suspension, detentions, etc. Parents and Students will be notified at least three weeks prior to the trip if their son or daughter is ineligible.
If there are any questions, please give me a call.

I would like to say a sincere and heartfelt "Thank You" for your support during my thirteen months as Interim Principal. In my time at Weathersfield, I have come to know the Weathersfield School Community as a caring, nurturing, supportive, and student centered group of people who truly care about doing what is right for our students. I have had the pleasure of making some real and lasting connections with students, parents and staff, which I will certainly miss. I will be in the building on Monday and Tuesday of next week to work with Mario to ensure a smooth leadership transition. I will also be in the building from time to time to attend transitional student meetings. Lastly, I would like to thank the Weathersfield School students for being a friendly, easy going group with which to work with. Please know that I will miss each and every one of you.
Sincerely, Donald R. Hart, Interim Principal. |

I am very pleased to tell you that on Monday, February 1st, Mr. Mario Bevacqua will be returning as the full-time principal of the school. He has been on extended leave for the last thirteen months and is now ready and eager to come back. We have worked over the last few weeks to bring Mr. Bevacqua up to date on changes at the school so that the transition will be a smooth and seamless one. Please stop in to welcome him on his return.
It is with genuine sincerity and appreciation that we thank Mr. Don Hart for all he has done as Interim Principal. Weathersfield was very fortunate to have found such a dedicated professional educator who truly likes and understands students to act as their Interim Principal. I personally have enjoyed working with Mr. Hart and thank him. We will all miss his sense of humor!
Sincerely, Donna E. Moyer, Interim Superintendent Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union |

On Saturday, January 16th at 5 pm, the movie: "Shout It Out" will be shown at the Bellows Falls Union High School auditorium. The film is based on the acclaimed and successful Voices Project theatre production that toured Vermont during the fall of 2005. It is free and open to the public and is appropriate for 7th through 12th graders and their parents.
"Shout it Out" tells the story of a group of teenagers making their way through high school. The film follows them through some of the more tumultuous moments of teenage hood: academic pressure; friction with peers, teachers, teen pregnancy, sexuality, cutting, class issues, body issues , relationships with parents; trying to fit in, trying to find one's self, fear of the future; nostalgia for the past; friendship; and first love. "Shout it Out" is based on eight months of research with Vermont teens, all songs written by VT teens and acted by local teens.
Praise from educators and teens:
--"'Shout it Out' is the first film that I have ever seen that allows students to portray themselves in a way that makes sense and is real to the issues at hand. We showed the film to our freshman class at Essex High School. The students were totally focused and engaged and had great feedback on the movie. This is a must-see for all high school students!"
Michelle Rath, Ph.D., Director of Guidance- Essex High School
--"Bess O'Brien's "Shout it Out" is the one of the most real-life looks into the lives of high school students that I have ever seen. I believe that this movie will help people be able to recognize when a loved one or a student needs help, and that is why this film is so important. David Baker, age 17, St. Johnsbury, VT |
